Garden of Becoming is an original intuitive mixed-media artwork created on watercolor paper, bringing together layers of texture, color, found imagery, and intuitive expression.
A vintage book page becomes part of the foundation, while modeling paste creates dimensional texture across the surface. Layers of yellow, green, blue, blue-gray, and earthy brown come together to create the feeling of an evolving landscape—part garden, part dreamscape, and part inner world.
Near the bottom of the artwork, stone-like forms emerged intuitively within the composition. After discovering them, I outlined the shapes I could see, allowing the imagery to reveal itself naturally rather than planning it beforehand.
And then there is the butterfly.
Only partially visible along the right side, its presence feels almost as though it is emerging from another place—a beautiful symbol of transformation, possibility, and becoming.
To me, this artwork speaks of the quiet moments when we are changing before we even realize it.
A garden does not become a garden overnight. Seeds rest beneath the soil. Roots grow in darkness. New leaves slowly unfold. And sometimes, transformation begins long before anyone else can see it.
